We offer below a description of work that gray iris has performed on behalf of some of our clients. For more information, please connect with us.

Ernst & Young

Collabrio Risk-Assessment

Ernst & Young is a leading accounting and financial consulting firm. Before Congress passed the Sarbanes-Oxley act, Ernst & Young recognized that it needed a system to assess risk, retain audit information, manage documents, and maintain a history of transactional changes that had occurred in the system. After licensing Web-based project management software and attempting to contract the job to an Atlanta-based group, they contacted Gray Iris to assist in design and implementation of the product. We spent the next year helping this project come to successful fruition by insisting on the use of test-driven development, the Fusebox programming paradigm, and a common set of coding standards. We pushed technical requirements to the three teams of developers under our coordination. This project came in six months early and $750,000 dollars under budget.

CITGO Petroleum

Predictive Maintenance for Detectors

CITGO Petroleum is a leading developer and manufacturer of petroleum based goods. CITGO Petroleum required a hardware and software solution to assist their inspectors to gather and report inspection information on combustible detectors from on- and off-shore drill sites. We provided a hand-held device with an integrated bar code scanner to allow inspectors to minimize human data entry at point of inspection; a computer-based client application to synchronize the information from the hand-held, cache it if no Internet connection existed, and upload it to the central information servers when the operator established Internet connectivity; and, a suite of Web-based business intelligence tools to analyze failure and success rates of combustible detectors in the field.

Microsoft

Sarbanes-Oxley Compliance Portal

Leveraging our expertise in the database entity design of the big four accounting firms' risk assessment tools, Microsoft asked us to develop the data mapping tool and data display to export and view information from the databases of PriceWaterhouseCooper, Ernst &Young, Deloitte & Touche, and KPMG. We built an XML-based template processing language and engine to perform data transformation of the disparate databases into the common format required by the SharePoint portal. We then continued development for them in creating dynamic views on the hierarchies of data.

EDGAR Online

I-Metrix Professional

EDGAR Online provides information gathered from quarterly and annual SEC filings from publicly traded companies. EDGAR Online did not have the development expertise to build its next generation of analytical tools and contracted Gray Iris to perform this work. After engaging in three full cycles of product development, we delivered a fully integrated Microsoft Excel plug-in featuring XBRL caching, an XLink-resolution library, and integration into their public syndication Web service. This software went on to win the 2006 “Best Online Professional Financial Information Service” Annual CODiE Award from the Software and Information Industry Association and the 2006 Silver Connecticut Quality Improvement Award for Innovation.

British Petroleum

Tax and Royalties Payment Calculation

British Petroleum, as a scheduler of natural gas across the North America grid, had need to create a new system to calculate the tax and royalty payments for the hundreds of jurisdictions and thousands of producers with which British Petroleum has contact. We provided a grid-based solution that provided real-time calculations to the meter level of the described pipelines while honoring all stipulations of the contracts entered into by British Petroleum.
